You may have seen in the Irish Times today how Ireland has been awarded court costs (Against Us) in the court case brought by the EU for infringing the EU Habitats Directive for the past 20 years, an undisclosed amount which is non of our business apparently.
This is a Very Very Clever Move by the EU and WEF and the main reason the UK left the EU in my opinion ie they didn't want someone in Davos (Brussels) lording over their Sovereignty, anyway!!!
Because Ireland didn't follow the Habitat Directive rules by failing to designate 217 of 423 sites as special areas of conservation (SACs), neglected to set “site-specific detailed conservation objectives” (SSCOs) at 140 sites; and failed to establish necessary conservation measures to maintain or restore a favourable conservation status on species and habitats.
Ireland will now either tow the line or face a HUGE FINE one that will make us a scapegoat, to scare other countries into line. "Towing the Line" will either see an end to peat as a heating source in Ireland, or we pay the fine, the majority of people in Ireland do not use peat for their heating they use electricity, so the few of us out in the sticks who do not want to pay extortionate electric bills will be outvoted.
All the directives, like sewage tank inspections that were shoved under the rug by successive Governments, because they were worried there would be an outcry, like there was with the water meters, will now have to be followed to dodge the fine.
Very Clever Davos Man
